Lawrence E. Murphy Jr.

95, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Lower Burrell, died Wednesday November 5, 2025 in his home. He was born in Glenwillard, PA on May 8, 1930 to the late Lawrence E. and Dora E. McFeaters Murphy and had been a resident of Lower Burrell for the majority of his adult life.

Mr. Murphy was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and worked for the Burrell School District for 38 years as a teacher, Elementary Principal and Federal Program Coordinator. After retiring in 1992 he was Acting Principal of St. Margaret Mary School and first business manager of St. Margaret Mary Parish. He was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell and most recently a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Mt. Washington. He was a member of the American Legion 0945, Mars; VFW Post 7505; Serra Club of Allegheny Valley; Lower Kiski Valley Ambulance Board, Police Commission of Lower Burrell; and Kinloch Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed reading, walking, swimming when he was younger, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.

He is survived by his two daughters Colleen (Robert) LoCicero of Frederick, MD., Sharon (Todd) Rosa, with whom he made his home, of Mount Washington, grandchildren Dominic, Jessica, Nicholas (Laura) Abby (fiancé Danny), and Cole.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy J. Murphy and brother Donald Murphy.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Rd. at Alder St. where Prayers of Transfer will be said Monday at 2 PM followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 2:30 in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial with military honors by the Vandergrift Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations made in his name to Little Sisters of the Poor www.sistersofthepoor.org or Catholic Charities www.ccharitiesgreensburg.org www.RusiewiczFH.com
