Lawrence J. Pohl Sr.

Lawrence J. Pohl, Sr., age 82, of Portland, passed away on February 24, 2026. Larry was born on January 5, 1944, to Peter and Margaret (Meyers) Pohl. He married Wanieta Maguire on April 28, 1972, and they spent 36 years together until her death on March 3, 2009.

Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, often travelling to destinations such as Newfoundland, British Columbia, and even areas in the western United States. He also spent several winters in Corpus Christie, Texas. He was a lifelong truck driver, he enjoyed mowing his yard, watching the wildlife out his window and taking an evening drive around the block. Larry loved family gatherings where they would share in lots of euchre, cribbage and laughter.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Wanieta; his parents; his brothers, Tom (Ardella) Pohl, Edward (Pat) Pohl; and sister, Rosie Bugbee.

He is survived by his children; Kathy (Walt) Conley, Larry Jr. (Jill) Pohl, Lonnie (Eileen Kozachik) Pohl, and special friend Rae Graft; grandchildren Jason (Casey Allen) Egleston, Ryan (Alicia) Egleston, Juston (Amanda) Pohl, Jayna (Taylor Gage) Pohl, Alyson (Jeff) Platte, and Tricia Pohl; great-grandchildren Tristan and Nevaeh Pohl, Amelia, Gabriella and Jaydon Egleston; and his sister Marianne (Ed) Eldrige.

Memorial visitation will take place on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 East Bridge Street, Portland. No service. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery.
