Raffalovich, Lawrence E. Ph.D.
ALBANY - Lawrence E. Raffalovich, 77, entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at home with his wife at his side.
He was the son of the late Aubrey and Doris Kulman Raffalovich. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont, he went to work for the state of Vermont doing social work. Lawrence then went on to receive his doctorate from Indiana University graduating in 1986. Lawrence's first job as a professor was for the University of Texas in Austin. He then moved to the Albany area in 1990 working as a professor of sociology at the University of Albany until his retirement in 2013.
Lawrence enjoyed playing the guitar and reading. Since 2016, Lawrence and Gloria have resided at the Beverwyck where they have made many friends and enjoyed numerous activities with their neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Purinton of Slingerlands; his son, Steven Purinton of Nashville, Tenn.; his daughter, Tonya Lara of Richmond, Va.; his grandchildren, Joshua Purinton of Nashville, Tenn., and Alyssa Porter of Richmond, Va.; and his brother, Daniel Raffalovich of San Diego.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
