Lawrence Root Obituary
Larry attended Elyria City schools, then served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1957-1961. After the service, he worked for Timm Springs and Parker Hannifin as a set-up man, retiring after 40 years.
Larry was raised in the East Broad St. Church of Christ and was a member of the Amvets, Elyria, serving as a Post Commander.
Larry loved classic and racing cars, traveling, and doing anything related to mechanics. He loved all animals.
Surviving family members are son, Todd (Becky) Root; daughter Cheryl Merryman; grandson Trent Root; many nieces and nephews; and niece, Sandra Hodgkins, who was his caregiver.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Root, sisters Vivian Hooper and Helen Krugman, brother Darrell Root, and parents Darrell and Garnet Root.
Memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 4-5pm at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St., Elyria, OH. Inurnment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 1:15pm.
