Lawrence Ray Simbro, 80, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away in Glenwood on March 8, 2026. He was born September 9, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Lawrence Simbro and Emma Maxine (Koons) Simbro.

Known to many as Larry or Ray, depending on the generation, he was a man who worked hard and played hard. He spent much of his working years as a truck driver, a career that suited his love of the open road. His favorite pastimes included riding motorcycles and watching auto racing. In his younger years he even did some racing himself. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and strong work ethic.

He is survived by his children: Bridget (Simbro) Johnson and her husband Roger of Great Falls, MT; Mary Simbro of Sweet Springs, MO; Laura (Simbro) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; Lawrence Simbro Jr. of Fremont NE; Michael Simbro and his wife Melinda of Sweet Spring, MO; Joshua Leonard of Glenwood, IA; and Andrea Leonard of Glenwood, IA. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors include his siblings: Beverly (Simbro) Goforth and her husband William of Lompoc, CA; Daniel Simbro and his wife Dianne of Monroe City, MO; Ricky Simbro and his wife Toni of St. Joseph, MO; and Pamela (Simbro) Kissinger and her husband Russell of Stanberry, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lawrence Simbro and Emma Maxine (Koons) Simbro, and his wife, Sandra (Leonard) Simbro.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Inurnment with Military Rites will follow in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. There is no scheduled family visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Ridge Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, Stanberry, MO 64489.
