Lawrence Snyder Obituary

Lawrence Ray Snyder, age 83, of Blue Jay Ohio, passed away September 23, 2025. Larry was born October 20, 1941 in Taylor Creek Ohio, the son of Henry and Frances (Taylor) Snyder Jr.

Larry met the love of his life while picking strawberries. He married the late, Wanda Lee Minnich, April 8, 1961. They spent many years together playing cards, dancing the jitterbug and raising their kids until her death in 2004.

As a young man, Larry developed a love for cars. In 1963, he and his brother purchased Northside Shell service station, where he worked until he became the sole proprietor of Snyder's Cheviot Shell in 1966. One of his greatest joys was helping people that had car trouble. He had an uncanny ability to listen to an engine and diagnose the problem without ever lifting the hood.

In 1972, due to family medical issues, Larry sold his service station and began working for Rumpke. He dedicated 43 years to the company, retiring in 2015.

Larry also loved baseball and softball. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He could cheer them on and critique them with the best of us. He also played both sports. But what he enjoyed the most about baseball and softball was watching his children play. He dedicated many hours to Taylor Creek Youth Organization (TCYO), ensuring all children could have a safe clean place to play.

Larry is survived by his son Lawrence Henry (Jenny) Snyder, and daughters Ronda Lynn (Bob) McQueary, Tammy Lee (Steve) Diersing and Jennifer Rae (Jeff Nuttle) Snyder. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Katie (Kevin) Schwarber, Rachel (Jesse) Miracle, Rebecca (Mike) Allen, Meghan (Zack) Kasten, Vincent (Allie) Snyder, Abby (Chris) Burwinkel, Emily (Jake) Napolitan, Logan (Abby) Lattire, Danielle (Dante Bucci) Diersing, Noah (Lexie Sweeney) McQueary, Kiersten (Logan Wood) Lattire and Steven Diersing. Dear great grandfather to Hailey, Oliver, Aiden, Hunter, Mason, Leeanna, Cooper Colton, Cameron, Makenna, Henry, Iris, Scarlett and Ace. Dear brother to Bradley Colegate. He is also survived by numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandchildren Timothy McQueary and Nicholas McQueary as well as his brothers James Snyder, Stanley Snyder and Francis Colegate.

Larry will be missed by all that knew him. His infectious laugh and big smile are something that will always be remembered. After all, if you ask him, a smile costs nothing and can be shared so easily.
