Lawrence P. Spiteri

Lawrence P. Spiteri, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in Tawas City, MI. He was born on October 21, 1936. to Fedel and Ethel (Attwell) Spiteri in Detroit, MI. After graduating from high school, Lawrence was employed by the City of Detroit for more than 30 years. As an operating engineer for the power plant, he was responsible for keeping the streetlights on in Detroit until retiring in 1992. He married Dorothy Joan LaPlante on December 14, 1957, in Detroit, MI. Together they raised their family in the Detroit area until they moved to Hale, MI

Lawrence loved spending time with his family. You would often find him in the garage tinkering on his hot rod or riding motorcycles. He enjoyed nature, traveling and boating.

Lawrence is survived by his daughters; Kathy (Greg) Mahalak, Laura (Tom) Mitchell, and Susan (Jeff) Wilson, grandchildren; Angie (Raj) Kahatri, Bill (Madyln) Ballard, Cindy (Tom) Neville, Dustin Ballard, Kyle (Courtney) Wilson, Allison (Phil) Smith, Theresa Mitchell, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Dorothy of 54 years, he is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Margaret Kaufman, George Spiteri, Kathleen Murphy, and his 2 young siblings he never knew but fondly remembered, Henry Spiteri and Carmen Spiteri.

Services for Lawrence will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI. Family will welcome friends for a time of visitation at 12:00 until the time of service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association.
