Beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend

Lawrence Richard Splitt, age 52, passed away on October 25, 2025, from pneumonia and heart failure. Known affectionately as “Larry,” he was originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois, and later made his home in Johnsburg, Illinois.

Larry was an exceptionally talented and intelligent man. From a young age, he demonstrated an extraordinary ability with technology - he could assemble a complete computer in an hour and often fixed others’ computers with ease. His natural curiosity and technical skill were matched only by his creativity and love for music. An amazing guitar player, Larry performed in a band with friends and cousins, sometimes joined by his Uncle Bill on guitar. His passion for music and deep admiration for The Rolling Stones - shared with his father - brought him great joy throughout his life.  Those who knew Larry will remember him most for his kindness. It was not something he had to think about or learn - it was simply who he was. Larry had an inherent gentleness about him, always making time for others, offering help without hesitation, and making people feel seen and cared for. Whether fixing a friend’s computer, listening when someone needed to talk, or showing up just to lend a hand, his compassion was constant and effortless.

Larry shared a special and unbreakable bond with his mother, always wanting to be there for her in any way he could. He also had a close relationship with his sister, Sharon, who had special needs and was the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with her and their family, especially fishing trips with his dad, uncle, and cousins.

Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and parents, Larry learned to run printing presses, later working for various companies and in the family print shop. His big heart earned the respect of everyone who knew him.

Larry faced many struggles in his later years, yet he remained compassionate and giving, always doing what he could to help others. He shared his life with his longtime girlfriend and fiancée, Vanessa, with whom he faced life’s challenges and joys together. Larry is survived by his loving parents, Corinne and Larry; his aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Sharon, grandparents, aunts Susan Moats and Claudia Lapierre, and cousin Lindsey Marcus.

Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Those who loved him take comfort in knowing he is now at peace - sharing his music, singing with his cousin Lindsey, and dancing with his sister Sharon among the stars.

A memorial service will be held at a later date
