Lawrence Turton, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey. Born on September 7, 1937, in Dublin, Ireland, he proudly served his new country in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a long and dedicated career with AT&T. A resident of Fords since 1965, Lawrence enjoyed his time with the American Irish Association of Woodbridge, where he once served as president. After retirement, Lawrence took up stained glass as a hobby and created beautiful pieces which now adorn the walls and windows of friends, family, and local businesses.
Lawrence is predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (nee. Byrne) Turton; and his siblings, Christine Murphy, Thomas Turton, and Christie Turton.
Surviving Lawrence is his beloved wife, Joan Turton; his daughter and her husband, Catherine and Felix Heidgen; his dear granddaughter Olivia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin the following morning at 10:30 AM with a chapel service at the funeral home. This will be followed by Interment in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, in Woodbridge, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence's name may be made out to the American Cancer Society.
