Lawrence Joseph Zarella (Captain Z), age 83, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts, Lawrence was a man of deep love and strong family values. He found his soulmate in Carol (Cafarella) Zarella, and together they built a beautiful life. They raised their family in Sagamore Beach, where he pursued his passions as a fishing captain and a hunting guide, sharing his love for the outdoors with others.
Above all, Lawrence was a devoted family man. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones-sharing stories, playing cards, or simply enjoying the company of those closest to him. His laughter was contagious, his presence steady and comforting.
He was the beloved husband of Carol Zarella and the cherished father of Patricia, Linda, Larry, Jimmy, and Bonnie. He was a proud and loving Pa to his grandchildren: Justin, Brooke, Danielle, Gia, Chris, Kate, Kara, and Spike. Son of the late Albert and Mary Zarella, he is also survived by his brother Albert Zarella and sisters Annie and Rita. Lawrence also loved and was loved by many of his nieces and nephews, who were an important part of his life.
Lawrence's legacy is one of love, laughter, and adventure-a life well-lived and well-loved. More than anything, his greatest wish for those he left behind was simple: be happy.
The family is planning a celebration of life for this summer in Cape Cod.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lawrence's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
