Leah Garner Obituary

Leah Ann Garner, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2024, at her residence in El Paso, Texas. She was born on May 11, 1956, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William A. and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Garner, of Emmitsburg. Garner of Thurmont, six nieces and nephews, and five grand nieces and nephews.

Leah attended Ursaline Academy in Bethesda and Maryland University, where she made lifelong friends. She lived in Kensington and Silver Spring before joining her parents in Emmitsburg to care for them until their deaths. She moved to Chula Vista, CA, then El Paso, TX, to be near her sister, for whom she was at first a patient mentor and later an adventurous companion . She walked her neighborhood daily and cheerfully greeted folks she met along the way. She is sorely missed.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 20, at St. Anthony's Shrine (16150 St. Anthony Rd, Emmitsburg), followed by inurnment in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery.
