Leah Maheu Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 9, 2025.
Leah Marie Maheu, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Jacksonville, NC, at the age of 68. Born on May 8, 1957, in Los Angeles, CA, Leah lived a life filled with love, warmth, and an unwavering spirit.

Leah was a devoted mother to her daughters, Elizabeth Adams of Jacksonville and Liberty Woods of Wilmington, who were the light of her life. As "GiGi," she cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother to her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Nakhai Pool, Maurice Pool, Jr., Yhamani Miller, Allen Magloire, Tyasia Guion, Jasiah Woods, Harrison Pool, and Alyis Magloire.

Throughout her years, Leah found joy in the simplest pleasures. She was a free spirit who loved the beach, the beauty of nature, and the serene presence of hummingbirds. Her love for animals, especially her granddogs, was evident to all who knew her. Leah had a talent for cooking, and her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of her delicious creations, which she shared generously with family and friends.

Leah's career as a bartender showcased her ability to connect with people, sharing stories and laughter while brightening the days of those around her. Her vibrant personality and genuine warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Preceded in death by her mother, Carol Meyers, Leah leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her surviving family, including her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister Mary.

In keeping with the family's wishes, services will be held privately. Leah will be remembered for her loving spirit, her commitment to family, and her ability to find beauty and joy in the world around her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family has requested that instead of sending flowers, donations can be made in her honor to help the family here https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/fundraiser-for-the-family-of-leah-maheu/14939/
