Leah Ann Soderberg, 79, of Grovetown, GA, beloved wife of fifty-four years to Arvid Soderberg, entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Born and raised in Charleston, IL, she was one of two children born to the late Leo Albert and Mary Frances Best Milburn. Leah and Arvid were married in 1971 and came to call the CSRA home in 1977.
Leah was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church (formerly Piney Heights Baptist Church). She participated in the choir, chorale and as a Sunday School teacher, and directed special productions during her 47-year membership.
Leah received her Masters of Educational Theater from Clarks Summit University.
She taught in public and private schools for 42 years in grades K3 - 12, considering that her mission field. Her favorite subject was Theatre Arts which she primarily taught at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, Hephzibah High School, and Cross Creek High School.
She served on the board of Augusta Players and was a member of Georgia Thespian Conference and Georgia Theatre Conference and volunteered for Word of Life Youth Camps and Clubs.
She enjoyed decorating homes, weddings and real estate staging. Her hobbies included gift giving and hosting people and parties.
Leah is missed by her husband, daughters Kara and Christina (Christopher), grandsons Andrew and Luke, step-grandchildren Katelyn and Maddox, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, friends, and former students.
They take comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8).
Preceding her in death were siblings Charles Wayne Milburn, Margaret Millsap, Nadine May, daughter Joanna Soderberg, and granddaughter Zoe Grace Howard.
Celebration of Life Services will be held:
Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1 o’clock at the Lakeside Baptist Church, 4280 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Beech Island, SC 29842. The family will receive friends, colleagues and former students one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service at the church.
Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1 o'clock at the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, Upton, MA 01568. A calling hour will take place at the funeral home from 12 Noon until 1 o'clock, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Upton, where she will be laid to rest beside her daughter, Joanna.
Considering her love for her church and the theatre arts, memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church (www.besidethelake.com) or The Augusta Players (www.augustaplayers.org).
