CORDELE – Leala Sheffield, age 92, passed away late Sunday evening, February 15, 2026, at Crisp Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Northern Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Damon Fountain officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Leala was born in Vienna, Georgia, to her late parents, Anthony Pate Lowery and Mammie Esther Burnette Lowery. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Bobby Lee Sheffield, her son Michael Shane Sheffeld, her siblings John William "Jay" Lowery, Mac Lowery, Lucille Ogilvie, Jennett H. Sparkman, and Maxine Freeman, daughter-in-law, Bonita Sheffield Bowers, her great-grandson Nathan Hadley, and Aubrey Wilson and Trey Seay, both fathers of her grandchildren.

She retired from Walmart after 20 years of dedicated service. Leala was a devoted and faithful member of Northern Heights Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir, Senior Ministry, and the food and prayer ministries. She also had served as church clerk for 20 years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching classic television programs, especially "The Waltons" and "The Andy Griffith Show." She also loved traveling, whether setting out on her own or joining friends on motor coach trips.

Survivors include her children, Robert Lee Sheffield (Betty) of Bay Minette, AL; Dennis Wayne Sheffield (Nancy) of Covington, GA; and Laurie Anne Sheffield of McComb, MS; Grandchildren, Stephanie Adams (Jason), Stephen Sheffield (Gina), Michelle Webb (Benny), Micah Sheffield (Susan), Jerrod Sheffield (Brandi), Shane Sheffield (Tamara), Stacey Sheffield (Kerri), Justin Sheffield (Maggie), Chance Wilson, Brian Wilson, Amanda Wilson, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family suggests that those desiring to make memorial contributions in Leala's memory, make them to Northern Heights Baptist Church, 1102 East 8th Ave., Cordele, GA, 31015.
