Mr. Whiteford served in the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged. He was employed for 35 years at UPS, first as a driver and then as a supervisor. His wife, Donna Whiteford, predeceased him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 Friday, Sept. 26, at Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad Street, Groton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic. A full obituary will follow in an upcoming edition of The Day.
