Leanor Thompson
Leanor Joan Thompson, known to all as Lee, was born on May 29, 1929, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and community. Lee lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she became a beloved figure through her work and volunteer efforts.
For many years, Lee was the bright and welcoming face of King's Food Host, a family restaurant that served as a gathering spot for the community. She later opened her own arts and crafts store, Lee's Country Crafts, on Indian School Road, followed by a tole' painting shop at Candelaria and Wyoming. Whether she was tending to customers at her shop or helping out at Rex's Hamburgers, the New Mexico State Fair, or the International Balloon Fiesta, Lee embraced every moment with warmth and joy.
A woman of deep faith, Lee was a founding member of Mesa View United Methodist Church, where she actively served as a greeter and usher. She found great joy in her weekly women's covenant group, forming lasting friendships and sharing laughter. Known for her uplifting spirit, you could always catch Lee expressing her gratitude with a cheerful "Thank you Jesus" or her signature "Kissy Kissy." She had a knack for making everyone feel important and loved, believing wholeheartedly in the commandment to love one another.
Lee was a devoted caretaker for her husband, Boyd, during his battle with health complications for 11 years until his passing. Her love and dedication to family were unparalleled. She leaves behind her sons Mark and Rex Thompson, son-in-law Steve Norwood, granddaughters Jennifer Garcia (Mike), Lindsey Boldin (Richard), Laura Stephens (Carl), Kathryn Feingold (Scott), and Kelsea Norwood, grandson Austin Norwood, great-granddaughter Alyssa Boldin, and great-grandchildren Triston Garcia and Samantha Kain, as well as her nephew Mike Strain.
A memorial service will take place on October 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Lee will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
