Learlene Nester Baker of Bluefield, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18th, 2025, at the age of 94 with her son by her side.
Learlene was a woman of deep faith whose life reflected her love for God and her devotion to family. She trusted the Lord in all seasons of life and found strength, comfort, and guidance through prayer. Her faith was not only spoken but lived daily through kindness, humility, and service to others.
Family was the center of Lear’s life. She took great pride in being a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing time spent with her family and creating memories that will be carried on for generations. Her home was a place of warmth, where love was felt and everyone was welcome.
Lear was preceded in death by her beloved husbands from prior marriages and other dear family members. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, who rejoice in the promise of eternal life and are grateful for the godly example she set.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her end-of-life caregivers and to Amedisys Hospice Care Services for their compassionate care.
Though she will be deeply missed, the family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the presence of the Lord.
In keeping with Lear’s wishes, there will be a private graveside service for family at Roselawn Cemetery. The family thanks Cravens-Shires Funeral Home for assisting the family during this time.
