Learon "Lee" Layne Wade rested peacefully into God's Hands on July 27, 2025.

Lee was born on June 25, 1935, in Danville, Virginia to Frank and Lelia Wade. He had 6 brothers and 4 sisters, with 1 surviving twin brother, Learo Wayne Wade. He met Virginia Ann Brooks in 1955, and they were married on July 25, 1956, in Roxboro, NC. They recently celebrated 69 years of holy matrimony. He has 3 surviving children and spouses: Sheila & Russell May, Cindy & Clay Gitter, and Michael & Tabitha Wade. He was a loving and caring "Granddaddy" of 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

Lee was a U.S. Navy Veteran and proudly served on the Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier in 1956. He retired in 1990 from the U.S. Government after 30 years of service at the VA Hospital and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a Contract Specialist. After his retirement, he owned a Create-A-Book franchise, which involved creating personalized books for children. He also worked at EmergeOrtho for nearly 3 years transporting medical records and later transported vehicles for local car dealerships before his full retirement.

Lee was always very positive, and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He had a passion for fishing and watching Duke Basketball and Football games. He was a man of mighty faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and unwaveringly stood on the Word of God. He faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and team leader at Bible Baptist Church and later served as a Deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Pall Bearers: Michael Wade, Seth Wade, Ricky Wade, Rusty May, Nathan Harris, Christian Harris, and Clay Gitter.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Ken Wade, Timmie Brooks, Gary Crabtree, Kenny May, Rodney Strickland, Jason Lund, Adam Mills, and Jerry Greene.
