Leatha Sims Obituary

Leatha N. Sims, age 90, of London, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. A daughter of the late William Thomas and Jackson Cappie Raper Vinson, she was born September 18, 1917 at London. She was the widow of Truman Orlander Sims, and was the co/owner and operator with her husband of the Sims Grocery in London. She was a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of God. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Hoyt E. Sims and W. O. Sims; and all of her brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Troy "Rip" and Shirley Sims of Russellville; Rex C. Sims of Russellville; and Montie and Carla Sims of Dardanelle; a daughter-in-law, Helen Sims of Lodnon; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 2 P.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Claude Jackson and the Rev. Arlin B. Elmore. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery, by Shinn Funeral Service. Active pallbearers will be grandsons: Paul Sims, Kevin Dale Sims, Robby Sims, Todd Weaver, Michael Bonds and B. J. Applegate. The family will receive friends this evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, Arkansas 72802; or Martin Chapel Assembly of God, 6635 SR 333, London, Arkansas 72847.
