Leda Itzkowitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hayes Brothers Funeral Home - Eustis Central Chapel on Dec. 17, 2025.
12/16/2025, a bell rang and an Angel got her wings!
My sister, Leda Itzkowitz, passed away peacefully in her home, in Eustis, Florida, with family, and her fur baby, Luca, by her side.
After many years of health issues and battling cancer, she succumbed to this devastating disease. Her type of cancer was a rare, not inherited type, that became aggressive. She bravely fought cancer with chemo and surgeries for the last few years.
Leda was a devoted daughter and dedicated sister (Gina Leary), a loving Aunt (Angelina Vittoria, Anthony and Matthew). She was always there for me and my children! She was also a wonderful friend especially with special people like Elaine Cattaneo Leban and Grace Mahoney Atterbury. Leda was an educator. She attracted young children like a magnet. She taught elementary students, especially those with needs in reading. By a school year end, Leda could help a student reach their reading level needed to proceed to the next grade. Kids loved Leda.!!!
Even during dealing with cancer, chemo and surgeries, Leda was a trooper! She moved to her home in Eustis from South Florida. She was very involved with her community and all her new friends at Haselton Village. (#haseltonvillagefamily). She had fun!! She went on a cruise less than 2 weeks ago with another childhood friend, Cindy Frimmer, and had a blast. Leda definitely did it her way!!!
May you now rest in peace Leda, surrounded by love, with our Mom and Dad, and the rest of our loved ones who have made this journey before us!
Mass with Intentions scheduled during Sunday morning service on 12/28/2025 at 10 am at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, 218 Ocklawaha Ave., Eustis, FL 32726. All welcome!
