Alan G. Itzkowitz

Alan Gary Itzkowitz, a native of Cleveland, OH, and long-time resident of Vernon, CT, passed away on January 10, 2026. He was 81 years old.
Born August 14, 1944 to the late Max and Hilda (Karmos) Itzkowitz, "Al" grew up in the Cleveland area. After his graduation from Ohio Wesleyan University he moved to Toledo, where he met Jo Ann Ilconich. The two later married and moved to Vernon, CT to raise their family. He had a career in internal auditing for over 50 years, beginning in manufacturing and ending in higher education. A lifelong lover of sports, especially Cleveland teams, Al played basketball at his alma mater, and won several amateur doubles tennis tournaments in the Toledo area. Later in CT he took up golf where he made his wife, son and daughter take family lessons and he played in the University of Hartford Golf League. He became an avid player of poker, often losing to his friends, but always splitting his winnings with his children, well into their 30s.
In addition to his parents, and many aunts and uncles, he was preceded in death by: his sister-in-law Connie Walters, his brother-in-law Elliot Rodin; and his step-son Justin Olms.
He is survived by: his beloved wife of nearly 43 years – Jo Ann (Ilconich) Itzkowitz; his son Eli Itzkowitz and wife Anna and their sons Max and Felix; his daughter Alyssa Itzkowitz and fiancé Richard Edwards; his stepsons – Jason Olms, and Jeffery Olms and wife Karen, and their daughter Allison; his sister Gail Rodin and her children – Marcy, Seth, and Lauren; and his sister-in-law Donna Cudworth and her children – Lisa, Colette, Renee, and David; as well as many great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Beth Olam Cemetery, 71 Edith Road in Vernon, CT.
