LEE BENNETT Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
Lee A. Bennett, 89, of Rocky River, Ohio, passed away on September 9, 2025. His life was rooted in his commitment to faith, family, and service. Lee's greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones, including his wife of 64 years, Linda (Myers) Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Mary Beth Flynn (Kevin); his son, Matt Bennett (Audra): his daughter, Sarah Vergon (Porter); and their seven grandchildren: Emma Flynn, lan Flynn, Mary Claire Flynn, Sydney Bennett, Joely Bennett, Anna Vergon Tucci (Brian), and Drew Vergon. Lee is also survived by his sister, Nancy Brent, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruth (Uline) Bennett, and his brothers, Allan Bennett and Neil Bennett.

Lee was raised in Cleveland and attended St. Ignatius High School, Bowling Green State University, and John Carroll University. The Jesuit values he learned during his upbringing became a guiding force in his life. This commitment to service extended to four years of ROTC training, which led to a commission in the U.S. Army and an assignment in the headquarters of the 83rd Infantry Division. Years later, Lee began his career in industrial sales, which eventually presented him with the opportunity to buy the business.

Lee and Linda, the love of his life, were devoted parishioners at St. Christopher Church for over 60 years. He was an enthusiastic Cleveland sports fan, enjoyed golfing, and had a passion for storytelling. During the winter months, he and Linda were active members of the Isla Del Sol Yacht and Country Club in St. Petersburg, Florida, where they formed lasting friendships. Lee will be remembered as a lifelong learner, known for his many humorous sayings, but more importantly, for the profound love he shared with his family and the gentle guidance he provided, inspiring them to become their best selves.

A funeral mass will take place at St. Christopher Catholic Church, located at 20141 Detroit Rd, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to visit in the Gathering Area of the church from 10:00 AM until the start of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Lee A. Bennett '54 to Saint Ignatius High School, The Linda B. and Lee A. Bennett '54 Family Scholarship, 1911 West 30th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113, or via the website at

So sorry for your tremendous loss. I met your father at Sarah and Porter's home years ago. Tom and I participated in a walk at the Cleveland Zoo for Diabetes in honor of Anna who is our son Paul's age. We had a lovely conversation with Mr. And Mrs. Lee Bennett.

I moved to Rocky River in 2001. Both Sarah and Mary Beth welcomed me into the women's groups! Thank you for your kindness.

Prayers to your family.
