Lee Edward Cheney

Lee Edward Cheney, aged 73, passed away on May 23, 2024 after a long battle with liver cancer. He was a beloved father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lee was born on August 24, 1951 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to William George Cheney and Elizabeth Joan Haase Cheney. When he was five years old, the family moved to Apple Valley, California where Lee attended school, eventually graduating form Apple Valley High School.
In 1978, Lee met Betsy Staten in a Colorado bar and won her over with his smooth musical skills and killer mustache. They married in 1979, and together they had their super awesome daughter, Kahra Lea, and their Pooka Bear, Lisa Elizabeth. They later divorced.
After living in California for many years, Lee moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he continued his career in interior décor, installing draperies and blinds in many of the major hotels. His dream was always to retire in Hawaii, so in 2016, he moved to Makaha, and then eventually settled in Waianae. He lived there until his cancer diagnosis in 2021. After that, he relocated to be with his daughters in Utah.
Remember those smooth musical skills that made all the ladies swoon? Lee was a gifted musician, playing the drums in numerous bands and also solo, giving the best living room concerts for his girls. He is the reason they both love all genres of music. Lee was also a talented photographer, specializing in nature and astronomy photos, and he was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan.
Lee was proceeded in death by his beloved mother, Liz, his father, Bill, his brother, Stephen Cheney-Rice and brother-in-law, Dann Taylor. He is survived by his daughters, Kahra Dicus and Lisa (Mark) Wilson, both of Roy, UT; his grandchildren - Kaden Cheney, Brooklyn Wilson, Grayson Dicus and Cohen Wilson; his sister, Susan Cheney Nagel of Hesperia, CA; his sister-in-law, Celesta Cheney-Rice; his niece and nephews; and his outside buddy, Cypress.
Lee's family would like to personally thank the staff of Inspiration Hospice, and especially his nurse, Katie Warner. He was very fond of her. I (Kahra) also want to give a huge shout out to my sister, Lisa, and her husband, Mark, for taking my father into their home and caring for him for the past three years. It wasn't an easy task, but I am forever grateful. And he was, too. He loved you both very much.
Lee didn't want a funeral. Instead, just put on some great music, dance around, play the air drums and remember all the good times with him. His personal recommendations would include Whitney Houston, Toto, Steve Winwood or Billy Joel.
