Lee DeForest of New City, NY died on Friday October 31st, 2025 in Mahwah, NJ. Lee was born June 17th, 1964, in Suffern, NY and was raised in New City, NY.
Lee is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Alice DeForest, of New City, NY; his sister, Cheryl Sites, of Harrisburg, PA, and his brother William DeForest of Falls Church, VA.
Lee is survived by his brother Raymond DeForest and his sisters Cynthia Morehead, Lynne DeForest, (Debra) and Mary Maloney (James), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lee graduated from Clarkstown South High School, in West Nyack, NY in 1982 and then attended Rockland Community College, where he received his associates degree. Lee went on to work for the Town of Clarkstown, which he retired from in 2012.
Lee was an avid outdoorsman, who loved camping, fishing, and white-water rafting. He took great pride in completing a skydiving jump in 1988. In his spare time, he enjoyed sports, and for many years played in both softball and bowling leagues, as well as the occasional round of golf. He loved watching the NY Mets and Jets and was a loyal fan through their ups and downs.
Lee was a quiet, unassuming man, with a quick wit, who enjoyed spending time with his family and their family dogs. He took great delight in working a crossword puzzle to completion and playing chess with his brothers.
Visitation will be held on Friday Nov. 7th at Joseph W Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack, NY from 4 to 8 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church, in West Nyack, NY on Sat. Nov. 8th at 10 AM.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen. Please pray for Lee.
