Lee Calvin Dietz, 85 years of age, passed away peacefully Monday, September 22, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Hospital after an illness.

He was born to Albert Clifford Dietz and Mary Elizabeth Holloman Dietz on June 4, 1940. Lee graduated from James A Gray High School in June 1958 and after working several jobs during the summer, went on to graduate from Wilmington Jr. College. He then graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. In 1964, after college, Lee was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea. While he was there, he taught high school for GIs and assumed administrative duties. When he returned home, he was hired by Western Electric Co. as an electrical engineer and eventually became a senior technical writer. During this time, Lee originated and published over 120 Bell System Publications. Lee met and married Carolyn Allen in 1973 and they have two children. They recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary this past June. After retirement, he wrote and published his autobiography and children's stories on Amazon.

Lee is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dietz, his son, Jesse Dietz, and his daughter, Jamie Lee Dietz; numerous nephews including Eric Simms and Mike Young, as well as nieces, Lydia Jones, Kim Shaw, and Paula Cook.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Owen Roger Dietz and Allen Dietz; as well as his sisters, Mildred Eloise Dietz Young and Lorene Faye Dietz Jones.

A funeral service will be conducted at Pilgrim Reformed Church (797 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington NC, 27295, phone# 336-249-1951) beginning at 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 1st, in the sanctuary. The visitation will take place from 2 to 2:50 p.m., in the church parlor, prior to service. Burial will be in Pilgrim Reformed Church Cemetery.
