Lee Joseph Gamache, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 77 in
Titusville, Florida. Lee was born on September 14, 1948, in
Cambridge, New York to Joseph and Leneta Gamache of Schuylerville. Lee's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for helping others, and his love for the outdoors.
Lee's journey began in the small town of Schuylerville, where he grew up with a close-knit family and a community that shaped his early years. His commitment to service was evident from a young age as he joined the Boy Scouts, alongside his parents, achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This early accomplishment foreshadowed a life led with honor, courage, and a willingness to lend a hand wherever needed.
Lee was a 1966 graduate of Schuylerville Central High School and Mary McClellan Hospital School of Nursing. He then went on to Adirondack Community College to receive his degree in Nursing. This education led him to a fulfilling career as a registered nurse at Mary McClellan Hospital and thereafter at the New York State Department of Corrections.
Lee's dedication to his community extended beyond his professional life. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Schuyler Hose, as well as Henry Hose Company in Granville, and an EMT for General Schuyler Emergency Squad; always ready to respond to his neighbors' calls for help.
Lee found joy in the adventures of kayaking and fishing, where he could immerse himself in the tranquility of nature. His dexterity was not limited to outdoor pursuits; he was also a talented handyman, known for his ability to fix anything around the house with a bit of ingenuity and advice from his father.
Above all, Lee was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Cindy S (Price) Gamache, and their children, Laura Cassidy (Shaun), Clint Gamache (Cheryl), and Trista Clark (James). Lee's legacy also continues through his cherished grandchildren Phillip, Isaiah, Jacob, Leah, Lily, Jordan, Connor, Charlotte, and Alexander, who will carry forward the lessons of kindness and resilience he instilled in them. He also leaves behind his siblings, Lawrence Gamache (Diane), Kim Gamache (Elaine), Linda Bussing, Elizabeth Efthimiou, and Evelyn Halka, who will remember him for his steadfast love and support.
Lee's life was a testament to the power of caring for others and the joy found in life's simple pleasures. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family and those he touched, and his spirit will live on in the acts of kindness he inspired.
A memorial service will be held on January 24th, 2026 at 11am at Temple Baptist Church 1400 US-1 North,
Titusville, Fl 32796. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the
ASPCA or other animal rescue in his honor. Lee had a profound love for all animals.
