Lee Matthew Gunderson, born on September 22, 1979, in Denver, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. Lee was a beloved individual who brightened the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A loyal employee for over 13 years, Lee dedicated many years to his career, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues. His vibrant personality shone through in every aspect of his life, characterized by his infectious smile, joyful giggle, and a spirit that radiated happiness. The memories of Lee will forever be cherished, especially the occasion of his baptism, which held deep significance for him.
Lee graduated from Mitchell High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with love and laughter. His charisma and sense of humor made him a special friend to many, while his caring and loving demeanor left a lasting impact on family and friends alike. Lee found joy in simple pleasures – he cherished spending time with his dogs, engaging in dog walking, and visited friends and family whenever he could. He loved running around, sharing laughter and experiences that drew everyone closer together.
Lee is survived by his father, Steven DuWayne Gunderson; sister Jodie Scarlett; and brothers Douglas and Steven II Gunderson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kimmi Gunderson; uncle Mike Gunderson; grandfather DuWayne Gunderson; and sisters Jennifer Bauman and Melissa Gunderson as well as his grandmother Joanne Neff.
Visitation for Lee will be held on January 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Families First at Edwards, located at 1166 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM, also at the same location.
In this time of loss, we reflect on Lee's vibrant life and the warmth he brought to our lives. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his memory continues to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
