Lee Hale Obituary

TSgt Lee E Hale, USAF Retired, completed his final mission on May 12, 2025.

He was born on May 11, 1934 in Drift, Kentucky to the late Mary (Mullins) and Leo Hale.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Y Hale whom he married on August 12, 1954.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Jo Hale and Son-in-Law and best buddy, Mark L Spangler, his Granddaughter Amanda Stephens (Paul) and Grandson Joshua Tash (Jennifer) and 3 Great Grandchildren, Carrie Stephens, Isabelle Tash and George Tash. Step Granddaughters Nicole (Greg) Clark and Kirsten (David) McNeill and Step Great Grandson Owen.

He is also survived by three brothers, Jack (Carol) Hale, Paul (Ann) Hale and John Hale and three sisters, Alene Sexton, Della Gayheart and Nola (Edsel) Gayheart.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, William (Buck) Hale and three sisters, Patricia Hale, Christine Hicks and Arlene Barnett.

He joined the US Air Force on May 17, 1951 and retired on June 1, 1971. He was enlisted during both the Korean War and Vietnam. He spent much of that time working with the Civil Engineer Squadron in Power Production. He had many Duty Stations including Lackland AFB-Texas, Warren AFB-Wyoming, Clark AFB-Philippines, Camp O'Donald-Philippines, Hong Kong, Tyndall AFB-Florida, Shepherd AFB-Texas, Chaumont-France (OL23), Ramstein AFB-Germany, Cologne-Germany, Custard AFB-Michigan, Da Nang-Vietnam, Worcester-Massachusetts, Lockbourne AFB-Ohio, Wheelus AFB-Libya and Little Rock AFB-Arkansas.

Lee continued to serve his Country long after his retirement by encouraging many nieces, nephews and friends to enlist in the military. His love of Country was second only to his Family.

After returning to the Plymouth Area, he worked for N&W Railroad, retired from Motor Panels and a final retirement from Carton Service. He could often be seen mowing his lawn and helping out family and friends. If you needed something "fixed" you called "Uncle Lee".

Lee loved to play on-line games and at the age of 90 was awarded a "20 Year Badge" from Pogo. He had a lifelong love of travel and adventure and even when he was unable to travel he often took a trip with RVerTV and we would ask "Where are we going tonight Dad?"

The Family would like to thank East Knox EMS, Hospice of the Western Reserve and Country Court Nursing Center for their excellent care in the last days of his life.
