I remember him telling me a story involving him, a friend and some marbles dropped on the back row of pews at Washington St Baptist in Greenville when he was a kid. Many old churches then were built with the floor in the rear of the sanctuary sloping down from back to front. The marbles got dropped and rolled all the way to the front where Lee and his friend left them for obvious reasons. He was not only the father of lifelong good friends but also, he was my friend. I will miss him.
