Lee Imperato passed away peacefully at the home of her loving son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Jaclyn (Kaplan)Taub, in Fort Montgomery, NY, surrounded by the rest of her loving family.
Lee was born in NYC to parents Alexander and Dover Balajti. As a child, she found her love of the water through time spent with relatives in Charleston, SC. Lee was president of her class at Far Rockaway HS and attended Newbury College in SC and City College in NY. Although the mother of triplets was a full-time job, Lee pursued a career. She was a bank teller, a real estate agent, and was most fond of her career as an Executive Assistant at the Bank of NY in Manhattan. A voracious reader who loved to travel, she followed her Merchant Marine father's passion for the sea, sailing well into her 70s. Lee was predeceased by her parents, Alexander Balajti and Dover Cannon Balajti; the love of her life, husband Frank Imperato, and her daughter Erica Bernier. She is survived by Alex and Jaclyn Taub and Stuart Taub (Denise); grandsons Jacob and Zachary Taub, whom she loved and adored. Lee is also survived by her Miniature Pinscher, Sophia Loren, who slept by her side and always kept the burglars out.
Although Lee lived in Florida for nearly two decades, she was a New Yorker at heart. Lee could not have received better care from the people at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida & Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
