Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lake Erie Cremation and Funeral Services on Feb. 14, 2026.
Lee Lydic, 89, of Saybrook Township, Ohio, formerly of Perry Village, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at Meadow Falls of Saybrook.

Born on January 8, 1937, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, Lee was the son of the late Lauren Alvin Lydic and Arietta Hazel Lydic (née Stewart). He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955.

Lee dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Village of Perry, where he faithfully served as a Police Officer, Chief of Police, Councilperson, and Mayor. His career reflected his deep commitment to the community he loved. He was passionate about Perry Village, its residents, and the opportunity to serve others. In recognition of his lasting impact, Lee Lydic Park in Perry Village was named in his honor.

Before his career in public service began, Lee was an entrepreneur who founded and built a successful intermodal company, Rail-Van, Inc., demonstrating his strong work ethic and determination.

Lee was an avid dog enthusiast and an active member of the American Kennel Club (AKC). He trained Brittanys and German Shorthairs, competing in field trials (judged events) and winning dozens of competitions. His favorite and most beloved companion was his Brittany, Rusty.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Lydic (née Kapera); his parents; his son, Jeffrey Lydic; his sister, Donna Bradley-Doyle; and nephew Richard Lydic.

Lee is survived by his children, Jesse (Maryclare) Lydic, Justine Lydic, Dan Lydic, Susan Marous, Christine (Mark) Fox, David Lydic, and ex-daughter in law Jeanette Rathburn (Affectionally known as Trixie); grandchildren, Jesse (Valerie) Lydic, Derek (Janine) Lydic, Nick Lydic, Travis Esposito, PJ (Jaimie) Esposito, Del (Tonya) Marous, Ethan Lydic; great-grandchildren, Arianna Lydic, Ava Lydic, Brooke Lydic, Brody Lydic, Jaxyn Esposito, Leilani Esposito, Kaia Esposito, and Amelia Marous. Also surviving are his siblings, Beryl Grall, Denny Lydic, Richard Todd, and Chester Todd; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Lee's wishes, no services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Perry Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Meadow Falls of Saybrook and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kind, loving, and comforting care for Lee!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perry Recreation Fund, 3758 Center Road, Perry, Ohio 44081, or to Reserve Care (formerly Hospice of the Western Reserve), 34900 Chardon Road, Willoughby, Ohio 44094.
