On Thursday, November 20th, Lee Wetherill Morris, 79, peacefully entered into Heavenly rest after a courageous battle with dementia. Lee was born in Akron, Ohio, on October 7th , 1946, to parents James Clifford Morris and Rachel Jane (Bosart) Morris. As a youth, Lee was interested in anything outside, only coming home to Dad’s whistle that it was time for dinner.
Lee graduated from New Trier High School where he played football and was an outstanding left-handed pitcher, proud of throwing a no hitter. Lee went on to Wittenberg University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. At Wittenberg he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
Lee met his wife, Pam, at a Sales Training for Honeywell in Minneapolis. They were married on August 20, 1983 and enjoyed 42 years together. Their son, Thomas James, (TJ), was born in 1989 and is such a blessing to them both.
As an adult, Lee continued to enjoy being outside; golfing, camping, boating, entertaining friends and family at their lake house, and pheasant hunting. He was also a wonderful cook, brewed craft beer and loved to read anything civil war and history related.
Lee was a proud veteran, serving in the Navy from July, 1969 to July, 1971. His tour of duty included Da Nang, Viet Nam, flagship USS Oklahoma City and Yokosuka, Japan where he managed the Dependent Assistant Program.
Lee was a member of the Roanoke Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and School.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, James C. Morris and Rachel B. Morris. Lee is survived by his wife, Pamela Britain Cary Morris; Son, Thomas James Morris; Sister, Sally West Morris Perks (Ben); Brother In Law, Jeff Britain, (Joni); Sister In Law, Debra Randall; Nephews Jim Perks (Johanna), David Perks (Kelly), Matt Randall, Josh Britain, (Kelsey); Niece Jessica Britain and many great nieces and nephews.
