Lee Paul Shellberg, Sr. passed away peacefully at home in Leander, Texas on October 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Lee is survived by his wife of 23 years, Paula Shellberg. Survivors also include his son, Lee Paul Shellberg, his wife Karyn, and grandchildren Savanah, William and Dalton of San Diego, California. Also surviving son Christopher Lee Whittington, and wife Glory and grandson Paxton of San Diego, California.
Lee was born a true Texan in Wichita County, Texas, and spent most of his early life in Amarillo, Texas. After high school he attended and graduated from his beloved University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his Professional Engineer license soon after. Lee worked for some time for the State of Texas and Mobil Oil. He soon realized he enjoyed being self-employed and worked most of his career doing just that. Along his journey Lee helped many people realize their dreams, building homes and subdivisions along with numerous other engineering projects.
Lee's life consisted of hard work, but he never missed a chance to enjoy friends and take time off for fun. He loved his Colorado mountains, spending many summers in Pitkin, Colorado 4-wheeling and winter sports. He loved offshore and bay fishing and spent lots of time along the Texas coast at homes in Port Aransas and Aransas Pass.
Lee became a firearms expert and excellent marksman in his early years. He was a proud defender of the Second Amendment ad an NRA life member.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, William Cantrell Shellberg, mother Irene Pauline (Marek) Shellberg, and brother William Shellberg.
Thank you to all, who along the way, made Lee's life exciting and full of love and laughter. He was loved and will be missed by all.
A celebration of life is being planned for November. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Lee's name.
