Wever, age 79, of Holland, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 at his home after a courageous battle with advanced Parkinson's disease. Lee was born in Muskegon and grew up on the family farm in Fremont and participated in 4H where he met the love of his life Sonja. Lee attended Michigan State University where he received his undergraduate and master's degrees in Education Technology. He went on to teach Agriculture and Diesel Mechanics for over 30 years at the Fremont Area Career Center and Calhoun Area Tech Center. He loved kids and building confidence in those that needed it the most through "hands-on" learning. After his retirement from education he went on to manage the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Battle Creek. Lee was an excellent woodworker and stained glass artist. He loved building furniture, toys and games for his family and friends. Lee spent countless hours sharing his expertise with many, especially his sons as they renovated their own homes or worked on their cars and trucks. Lee loved to travel with his wife Sonja. their family and friends. He used his gifts of carpentry and fixing on many mission trips including multiple trips to Kenya where Lee and Sonja served with Kenya Hope. Lee was a member of Christ Community Church in Battle Creek for over 30 years where he served in countless rolls, Harlem Reformed Church for 8 years serving as a Cadet Leader and is a current member of Faith Reformed Church of Zeeland. Lee was preceded in death by his sister, Doreen Plaisier. Lee is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sonja Wever; Children, Jeff (Patti) Wever of Battle Creek, Craig (Toni) Wever of Zeeland; Grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Hurrle, Taylor (Mark) Lubin, Weston Wever, Savanna Park, Adeline Wever, Thomas Wever and 4 great grandchildren, Cole, Maddie, Cameron and Payton; Sister, Sheryl Miner of Georgia; Brother, Wayne (Sue) Wever of Fremont; brother-in-law, Nihil (Char) VanderHoning of Sand Lake. Funeral services are planned for 11:00am Friday, October 3, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 W Central Ave., Zeeland, with Rev. Jonathan Elgersma officiating. Burial will be in West Drenthe Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, October 2, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kenya Hope and the Fatih Student Ministry Mission Scholarship Fund.
