Leeya Janae Leaverette was born on June 26, 2006, to the late Sherard M. Leaverette and Danyel S. Leaverette in Columbia, South Carolina. She transitioned from this life with her maternal grandfather, Cornelius A. Clory, Sr., on September 15, 2023, at the age of 17.
Leeya was a loving daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, goddaughter, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, music, and dancing. Leeya accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age, where her spiritual journey began at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, and then to Forward City Church where each ministry played a role in her spiritual growth.
Leeya received her education at South Carolina Virtual Charter School, where she was on track to receive her high school diploma on May 30, 2024. She was a member of the Beta Club and National Society of High School Scholars and was actively preparing to attend college to become a Pediatric Nurse.
In addition to her father and maternal grandfather, Leeya was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandmother, Corine Roberts; and god-father, Samuel Burgess, Jr.
Leeya was loved and adored by a plethora of her family and friends and leaves behind to cherish many fond wonderful memories her loving mother, Danyel S. Leaverette; maternal grandmother, Gladys Clory; paternal grandparents, Willie & Ruth Leaverette, Jr.; aunts, Terric L. Bland, Norma L. (Michael) Camp, and Tiffany D. (Vernon) Amos; uncle, Cornelius A. Clory, Jr.; cousins, Elysia (Darrell) Lofton, Michaela (Christopher) Holmes, Tristan Amos, and Taliya Amos; god-parents, Crystal Burgess, Alonia (Vyce) Johnson, and Michael Johnson; god-brothers, Jaxson Cooper, Xavier Johnson, Samuel Burgess III, and Akim Palmore; god-sisters, T'Keyah Burgess and T'Meyah Burgess; and a host of special cousins, and many more loved ones and friends.
