Leighton Dudley Warner was born on September 1, 1936, in the vibrant city of Port of Spain, Trinidad. He passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. Leighton was affectionately known to his family and close friends as “Pelham.”
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gemma; his beloved daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Andre Hassan; as well as two cherished grandchildren, Justin and Jaden.
Growing up in Trinidad, Leighton experienced a time of rich cultural evolution. The air was filled with calypso rhythms, and the community was tightly knit, with neighbors sharing stories and laughter. He embraced this lively environment and developed a passion for soccer as a player on local fields and an enthusiastic supporter. Additionally, he enjoyed the excitement of horse racing—a popular pastime in Trinidad—and loved watching tennis.
Known for his jovial and lighthearted demeanor, Leighton had a unique ability to bring smiles to those around him. He balanced his playful nature with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. Evenings often found him “liming” with friends in the savannah, enjoying spirited conversations and a good drink, embodying the true spirit of camaraderie.
Leighton’s legacy is one of warmth, and his memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
