Lela Pearl Conrick, 91, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away on June 12, 2023, in Kearney, Missouri.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, 10:00am-11:00am at the Church of the Annunciation in Kearney, Missouri, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at the Church. Graveside committal service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, at 1:00pm.
Lela was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 20, 1931, to the late Floyd Henry Sexton and the late Ellen Naomi Sexton née Farley. She married the love of her life, the late Frank Wilbur Conrick on May 25, 1950.
Lela was a devout Catholic and loving mother. She liked to go camping, fishing, and listen to Bluegrass music. She enjoyed needlepoint and won competitions at the Missouri State Fair. She liked growing a garden and canning green beans, tomatoes, and dill pickles. Her favorite baseball player was George Brett, Doctor was Dr. Maragos, NASCAR driver was Jeff Gordon. Her love of NASCAR started later in life going to races with her son and daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her children: Frank (Pam) Conrick of Kearney, Floyd (Phylis) Conrick of Excelsior Springs, Leonard (Cindy) Conrick of Kearney, Therese (Tom) McLaughlin of Blue Springs, John (Patty) Conrick of Excelsior Springs, Sister-in-law, Wilma (Armstrong) Sexton, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Lela was preceded in death by her son, William Thomas Conrick, granddaughter Jessica A. McLaughlin, grandsons Christopher James Conrick and Brian Mathew Conrick, her sisters Dorothy Sexton and Lucille Tackett and brother James Roscoe Sexton. She was extremely close to her Conrick family that preceded her in death: Frank and Crescentia Conrick, Rose Conrick, Loretta Conrick, Betty Conrick, Leonard & Lynne Conrick, Robert and Mary Conrick, and Edward Conrick, all from the Kansas City area.
