Charles "Chuck" Thomas Scudder, 82, of Kearney, Missouri passed away February 7, 2026 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, Kearney, Missouri. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:30 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, Kearney, Missouri.

Chuck was born in Marshall, Missouri, October 5, 1943 to Henry Scudder and Bette Garceau He was raised in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1961. He then attended UCM and got a bachelor degree in Journalism, radio and newspaper. He worked with KMMO and the Marshall Democrat paper.

One of his proudest accomplishments was serving in the Army from September 1965 to December 1968. He was in the Vietnam War as a medical specialist.

Chuck was very charismatic, larger than life and always smiling, joking and laughing. He was a shop-a-holic and purchased over 100 shirts. He loved cooking with his wife and loved doing crossword puzzles. He loved MU football and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chuck's hobbies included going to flea markets, writing stories and songs and working out. He was an animal lover and loved family antiques. He was lottery obsessed. He played the same numbers for thirty years. He was a dreamer, very clever and argumentative on a funny note.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Scudder and Bette Garceau; brother, David Scudder and son-in-law, Larry Parrish.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; sister, Kay Beth (Tom) Hightower; children, Alexandra (Jim) Wilson, Fredrick Scudder, Kevin (Laila) Scudder, Nathan (Beth) Cosper and Sarah Parrish; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A great friend with whom I shared a lot of childhood memories. I think I spent as much time in his home as he did. He will be sadly missed.
