Lela Christine Dunn, affectionately known as Christine gently took her leave from this world on February 14, 2026, in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 6, 1931, to Rudolph "Teddy" and Mae (Farris) Rodell on the family homestead in the Guy's Store Community of Leon County, Texas, Christine's vibrant spirit and loving heart touched the lives of many during her remarkable journey.

Christine's educational journey began at Centerview School, where she laid the foundation for her bright future. She later transferred to Centerville High School, proudly graduating in 1948, and went on to embrace a diverse range of jobs during her younger years. She spent time working at a five and dime grocery store and even took on the rigorous duties of a butcher's shop during hunting season, showcasing her dedication and tenacity. Ultimately, she considered her role as wife and mother her most important job and was an excellent homemaker and caregiver to her family.

To those who knew Christine, her role as an excellent gardener and cook stood out brightly. She delighted in shelling peas, canning, and making preserves and jams, with many gathering at her home, eager to enjoy her culinary masterpieces. At Christmas, her home would transform into a festive haven, filled with the aromas of wonderful meals and desserts, most notably her legendary pecan pie. Christine's yard was always a picture of care, reflecting her loving attention and devotion to her surroundings.

Her greatest passion, however, was her family. Christine's glowing personality shone brightest in the company of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, often helping to care for them when they were younger. Her face would beam with joy and love at the sight of her family, embodying the warmth and kindness she shared so freely.

Christine was a long-time faithful and devoted member of New Salem Baptist Church and a firm believer in the power of prayer. During her life, Christine spent many hours in fervent prayer to her Lord.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Arthur Dunn; her son, Lawrence Dunn; and siblings, Mattie Mae, Teddy Ray, Adolph, Louise, and Dan. Although she has departed, her legacy of love is carried forward by her surviving family, including her daughter, Cathy Dunn of Centerville, Texas; son, James Dunn and his wife, Diane of Centerville, Texas; sister, Donna Melcher of Cypress, Texas; and her ten grandchildren—Reese Dunn, Hope Garner, Kelli Franklin, Angie Guidry, Wesley Dunn, Matthew Dunn, Jamie Dunn, J.T. Mitchell, Coty Arellano, and Rob Arellano. To cherish her memory further, Christine is survived by eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Special friends Ronnie Langley and Beverly Boyd also hold a treasured place in her heart and memory.

A visitation will be held in Christine's honor on February 18, 2026, from 12 noon to 1 P.M. at the New Salem Cemetery Chapel in the Centerview Community, followed by a funeral service at 1 P.M. at the same location.  Christine will be laid to rest next to her beloved, Arthur, in New Salem Cemetery following the service.

As we remember Lela Christine Dunn, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit of nurturing that will forever live on in the hearts of all she touched.
