Lela Pollock, born on March 11, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, in Durham, North Carolina, at the age of 85. Lela was a woman of profound faith and dedication, whose life was richly woven with the threads of family, music, and spirituality. From an early age, she shared her love for gospel music with her family, traveling together and lifting voices in harmony to praise and inspire. Her passion for music was not only a testament to her talent but also a reflection of her deep devotion to her faith. At the age of 16, Lela began playing the piano in church, a pursuit that would become a lifelong endeavor. Her music was a gift to all who heard it, resonating with the strength of her beliefs and her unwavering love for those around her. Throughout her life, Lela composed numerous songs and left behind a legacy of recorded works, touching countless hearts with her melodic expressions of faith and love. She is survived by her devoted sons and their spouses: Herbert David Pollock Jr. and his wife Sandra, Ricky Lane Pollock and his wife Kelly, Robert Keith Pollock and his wife Holley, and Donnie Ray Pollock. Her grandchildren: Chris and Brittney Pollock, Missy and Anthony Jackson, Tabitha Brewer, Tiffany and Camron Bilskie, Dave Pollock, Amy Deakle, Brook Cox, Rebecca Wells, Patric and Cortney Day, Kelly Day, Tiffany and Gordon Heath. Additionally, she is cherished by her great-grandchildren: Brandon Mowbray, Julianna Tootle, Kristina Cox, Isaiah Jones, Weston Jackson, Holley Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Naomi Pollock, Emmanuel Pollock, Cole Bilskie, Rylee Bilskie, Luna Bilskie, Jesse Deakle, Kayle Pollock, Hayden Pollock, Jordon Pollock, Mack Brewer, Kaleb Lamb, McKencie Odem, Kendalynn Odem, Emery Heath, Lucy Heath, Ivy Day, and Annie Day. Lela was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert David Pollock Sr, her beloved parents, Gordon and Nora Noyes, and Daughter-in-law, Tabitha Pollock. Lela's legacy endures not only through her music and faith but also in the hearts of the family and friends who loved her dearly. Her life was a testament to the power of song and the strength of family bonds, and she will be remembered with deep affection and respect by all who knew her.
