Carolyn was born on March 30, 1948 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Don Alvin and Rindia Virgina (Black) Holveck. Carolyn was very active in her church from a very young age. She would play the piano and sing with her mother and sister. It was at church that her future husband first saw her. She married Jerry Pritchett on June 17, 1966. Ten years into their marriage, Carolyn and Jerry moved from the Dallas metroplex and relocated to the rural city of Sulphur Bluff, Texas. Carolyn adapted quickly to the country’s way of living. Raising bottle calves for herself and local dairymen. At one point she was bottle feeding 25 calves for Johnny Mays.

Upon Jerry’s retirement from the Dallas Fire Department, Carolyn and Jerry spent over 22 years in an R.V. They stayed the summer in the mountains of Red River, New Mexico. In the spring and fall times, they would stay on Lake DeGray in the hills of Arkansas.

Carolyn will be remembered by everyone for her love of others. There was no one who was kinder and more tender hearted than Carolyn. She devoted her entire life to providing love, comfort, and safety to her family. Carolyn always put herself last, which was a testament of a life well lived.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Pritchett; her beloved daughter, Shelley Kay Lay and her son, Jerry Don Pritchett and wife, Shanna; five grandchildren who called her ma, C.J. Burkham, Shelbi Jones and her husband, Cody, Katelyn Garcia and husband, Carlos, Kaymbrey Pritchett, and Keegan Pritchett; six great grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Virginia Holveck and sister, Judy Reed.
