Leland Dingee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home - Braintree on Nov. 19, 2025.
Leland A. "Lee" Dingee, of Braintree, formerly of So. Boston, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, after a valiant battle with multiple illnesses, at the age of 79. Born on October 2, 1946, in Boston, Lee was the devoted son of the late Charles and Mary (Harvey) Dingee, and grew into a man admired for his loving, kind, and passionate nature.
Lee was the beloved husband of Linda (Ruby) Dingee, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. He was the loving father of Scott Dingee and his wife Elizabeth of Braintree, and he held dear the memory of his late son, John L. Dingee, whose partner Kelli Moors of Sandwich remains a treasured part of the family. Lee was the proud brother of the late Stephen Dingee and Renee Devine, and brother-in-law of the late John Ruby and his wife Rhonda of Amesbury. His role as 'Papa' to his grandchildren-Socks, Keegan, Braden, Ronan, Connor, Samantha, MacKenna, Eva, Kincade, Lee, and Lance-brought him immeasurable joy and fulfillment. Also survived by his nieces Lisa, Suzanne, and Nichole, along with many friends.
A proud graduate of Boston Technical High School, Lee's professional journey led him to a successful career as a Buyer for Sun Life Financial. His dedication to his work was evident in the many years he spent with the company before retiring. His retirement, however, did not mark the end of his contributions to his community.
Lee's commitment to public service was unparalleled. For over four decades, he was an active participant in the Town of Braintree politics. He served with distinction as Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and made history as the President of the First Town Council in the Town. Lee was also a dedicated member of the East Braintree Civic Association, the Braintree American Legion Post #86, and the Braintree Knights of Columbus. His involvement in these organizations reflected his deep love for his community and his desire to make a positive impact.
Lee's interests were as vast as they were fulfilling. He relished the opportunity to travel and explore new horizons, often embarking on cruises that satisfied his adventurous spirit. A man of many hobbies, he enjoyed scuba diving, capturing the world through photography, and had a green thumb for gardening, creating a stunning oasis of flowers and vegetables in his yard. He cherished the annual family trip to Marshfield in the summer, a tradition that brought together those dearest to him.
Above all, Lee's greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. The love he poured into his relationships was the cornerstone of his legacy. His kindness touched all who knew him, and his passion for life was evident in everything he did. His memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have been blessed to know him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 21st, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Glioblastoma Foundation P.O. Box 62066. Durham, NC 27715.

Lee´s legacy is remembered in the lives he touched and the love he spread.

He had the rare gift of making each person feel seen, heard, and valued, a quality that endeared him to countless hearts.

His generosity knew no bounds, and his kindness was the currency he valued above all else.

I remember Lee from time of : The Braintree Town Meeting, and thereafter.

He was a wonderful person , he cared about the town, always worked in a way beholding the highest level of
true dedication to the community.

I am very saddened to have heard of his loss.

I greatly admired and respected his integrity, intelligence, and sense of always working so as to improve
the community itself so as to thus in the end improve the very lives of each of its inhabitants.

My heart goes out to his family at this time.

May you be comforted in the love you share, and the legacy He left behind.
