Leland Patterson, Jr. of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at location home.
He was born on January 12, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Leland Patterson, Sr. and the late Carrie Mae Patterson.
Leland started his career in Information Technology at the age of 19, working as a Systems Analyst and Network Administrator for 50 years. He will be remembered for his kindness, loving heart, outgoing personality, and adventurous spirit.
He enjoyed water skiing, long distance cycling, playing chess, and listening to smooth jazz. Leland put God first and his Hun-Bun (Diane) above everyone else. He was the greatest Daddy to Ayesha and Cherry. He always let them know how blessed he felt to be their Father and how they always made him proud. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Mae Patterson, brothers, Glen Clay, Wallace Polk, and special parents, Hasan (Sarah) Polk.
Leland is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 54 years, Diane Patterson, two daughters, Ayesha Patterson, Ruishon (Dr. Etinnie) Burnett; granddaughter, Hannah Burnett; father, Leland Patterson, Sr.; brother, George E. Clay; sisters, Christine Polk, Vivian Polk, Lauretta (John) Smith; four nieces (one proceeded in death); two nephews; and many, many cousins. He also leaves his best friend, Clee Ross II, and special daughter, Tarra Williams, and two special cousins, Jeanette Durham-Hawkins and Darnita Polk.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:30 am at Raymer-Kepner Chapel. Please call 704-781-5665 if you have questions concerning services.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Harrisburg Funeral & Cremation. If ordering flowers, the family prefers plants instead of cut flower arrangements.
