Lennetta Lyn Scott, age 54, of Des Moines, passed away on February 19, 2026, in the city she called home her entire life.
Lennetta was born on May 14, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Clenard Wagner and Yvonne Evelyn Cooper-Wagner. She grew up in the Des Moines area, where she built lifelong friendships and deep family roots that she cherished throughout her life.
Lennetta was beautiful inside and out, known for her radiant smile, creative spirit, and the way she could light up any room. She had a true gift for photography and loved capturing moments through her lens, preserving memories for those she loved. Whether it was family gatherings, celebrations, or simple everyday joys, Lennetta made sure the special moments were never forgotten.
A natural nurturer, she was a "mother hen" to everyone around her. Family and friends alike found comfort in her strength, guidance, and unwavering support. She had an incredible ability to make things happen, even when they seemed impossible. If something needed to be done, Lennetta would find a way.
She enjoyed attending church and found comfort and community in her faith. She also liked spending time at the casino, enjoying the excitement and community. One of her greatest joys was fishing-something she learned from her mother and sisters. Those fishing trips turned into treasured traditions, often ending with laughter, stories, and a good old-fashioned fish fry that brought everyone together.
Most of all, Lennetta loved spending time with her loved ones. Her children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into each and every one of them.
She is survived by her six children, Akoya Chestnut; Pretoush Harris; Sagen Harris; Kevin Scott (Rachel); Jerray Scott (Shakila); and Lennetta M. Scott; her siblings, Teresa Daniels, TeLisa Johnson, Anthony Martin, Tyree Wagner, Jason Wagner, Bobby Wagner, Jeshawntae Wagner, Ursula Blunt, Oneda Johnson, and Ronell Ewing; and her more than 30 grandchildren, each of whom she loved immensely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clenard Wagner and Evelyn Yvonne Cooper-Wagner; her sister, Patricia Ann Woods; and her niece, Sameckia Oakley.
Lennetta's love, creativity, strength, and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the countless memories she captured, the lives she touched, and the family she cherished above all else.
