Sherley Beotra Scott, age 69, of Columbus, passed away on February 17, 2026. She was born on February 2, 1957, at the U.S. Army Hospital at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Sherley was a beautiful soul inside and out. In her younger years, she modeled and attended Penn State University for track and field, carrying that same confidence and strength with her throughout her life. She had a natural artistic spirit and loved to draw and express her creativity.

Known for her generous heart, Sherley was strong-minded and ambitious, yet always the person who looked out for others and made sure everyone was cared for. She was grounded in her faith and believed deeply in God, embracing life with gratitude and joy no matter what came her way. Her playful sarcasm, quick wit, and love of humor brought laughter and light to those around her.

Sherley loved getting dressed up, taking selfies, watching movies, and finding new adventures. She shared a special bond with her beloved American Akita and cherished the comfort and companionship he brought. She also treasured traveling with her family, especially their many trips to Florida — a tradition her loved ones will continue in her honor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jay Carter (April 2022), and her firstborn daughter, Chanel Jade Carter (September 2018).

Sherley leaves behind five loving children and thirteen cherished grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
