Lenord Kenneth Coats, Sr., 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Tulsa. He was born on August 26, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Billy Kenneth Coats and Lucille Frances (Williams) Coats. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army, a commitment he carried with pride throughout his life. Lenord spent most of his working years as a dedicated welder, retiring from Vogt Power. He had a passion for motorcycles, both riding and building them, and found great joy in participating in Toys for Tots events, often portraying Santa Claus and bringing smiles to countless children. Lenord also enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family.
Lenord is survived by his sons, Lenord Coats, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kenneth Coats and wife Debbie of Glenpool, Oklahoma; his daughters, Carolyn Foster and husband Daniel of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Corinna Coats of Jay, Oklahoma; his brothers, Kenneth Coats of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and William Coats of Vinita, Oklahoma; and his sister, Pamela Mast and husband Bill of Stilwell, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brad Coats, Freddie Collins, Ashley Sanders, Courtney Hustad, and RJ Wren, Jr., along with seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Kenneth Coats and Lucille Frances (Williams) Coats; his son, Corey Coats; and his brother, Darrell Coats.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery, with Corinna Coats, Brad Coats, Kenneth Coats, Lenord Coats, Jr., Mark Sixkiller, RJ Wren, and Daniel Foster serving as casket bearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Shipman’s Funeral Home.
