**Lenore Lund (née Breuhaus, Cullum)**

Lenore Dorothea Lund of Rockford passed away peacefully on August 30, surrounded by her family at her home on Harlem Boulevard. She was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on August 23, 1949. Lenore spent her early childhood in Lombard, Illinois, the home of the famous Lilacia Park, where her love for lilacs blossomed and remained throughout her life. Her family later moved to Park Ridge, where she graduated from Maine East High School in 1962. Lenore attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison and the Metropolitan Business College in Chicago. She began her career as an executive assistant to the executive director of the Data Processing Management Association before relocating to Rockford. Subsequently, she served as the executive director of the Rockford Apartment Association and worked for several years as an interior decorator for Decorating Trends.

Above all, Lenore cherished her role as a mother, raising her two children: Brian James Breuhaus (Patty Kim Breuhaus) and Bethany Lund Breuhaus (Danny Lee Smith). In 2013, she married John DeWaters, whom she often described as one of the best things that ever happened to her. Lenore had a wide range of interests and hobbies, with a deep passion for horses that began in childhood. She was fortunate to own, ride, and train horses for 40 years. Additionally, she was devoted to church outreach and served in many capacities over the decades. Lenore and John were active members of Second/First Church, located at 318 North Church Street, where her funeral will be held on October 11th, 2025, followed by a reception. Lenore is survived by her beloved children, Brian and Bethany; her spouse, John; and her four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: Jack, Anne, Jane Breuhaus, and Annika Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Jon, as well as wonderful nieces and nephews. Lenore was blessed by many friends and family who held a special place in her heart. In place of flowers, please consider donating to Second/First Church and the Lockwood Equine Facility.

To the family, I'm so sorry to read about Lenore's passing. I met Lenore when she started working for our family at Puckett's Carpet/Decorating Trends years ago. She always had a smile on her face, had many stories and always laughing. I ended up buying a home on Harlem Blvd and Lenore was the first person to welcome us with a pot of chili the day we moved in which was such a blessing to us. Lenore was a proud mother and was always talking about her children. She will never be forgotten. Prayers for the entire family. With Christian Love, Dawn Puckett-Ellis

Lenore was a dear friend and mentor over many years at Court Street United Methodist Church in services, women's groups, Bible Studies, and social gatherings, and through the P. E. O. Sisterhood. We also shared a love of Mary Kay Cosmetics. We enjoyed camp fires at her home on Harlem Blvd with our family including our four sons and we had fun at Rock Cut State Park with her and another family while she camped. I will miss her. We send our heartfelt sympathy to John and Brian and Bethany and their families. May the Holy Spirit comfort you at this time.
