Brookfield: Leo A. Bergeron, 92, of Rice Corner Rd., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17th, in the UMass Memorial Medical-Harrington Hospital, Southbridge, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 72 years, Jeannette (Palmerino) Bergeron; his three sons, Thomas Bergeron and his wife Debbie of Brookfield, Nicholas Bergeron and his wife Patricia of Brookfield and David Bergeron and his wife Lynn of Brookfield; his four daughters, Kathleen Cody and her husband Jim of Bell, FL, Arleen Lorange of Brookfield, Christine Fredette and her husband Andrew of Sutton and Elizabeth Gallant of Brookfield; his 13 grandchildren, Michael Bergeron, Jessica Bergeron, Kyle Arsenault, Keri Prescott, Joshua Lorange, Samantha Kaitbenski, Mathieu Cloutier, Melissa Fontaine, Lisa Cloutier, Nicole Bergeron, Richard MacDonald, Andrew Cloutier and Christopher Bergeron; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his son, Richard Bergeron in 1988 and his daughter, Elaine Cloutier in 2009. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Keith Gallant, his three brothers, William Bergeron, Donald Bergeron and Robert Bergeron and his sister, Dorothy Paquette. He was born in Brimfield the son of Leo A. Bergeron and Florence (Carlson) Bergeron Dennett.

Leo spent many years working as a mason for Trahan before transitioning to a machinist role at Pratt & Whitney, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. A skilled master mechanic, Leo had a deep passion for cars and trucks. His favorite pastime was restoring and repairing vehicles. He took pride in his vehicles and often joked that he was the only one in the family who managed not to wreck any of them. In his later years, Leo enjoyed woodworking and making birdhouses and wishing wells for his yard.

Leo's most honored job was to be a great husband and provider to his family. He worked hard to make sure his family was always taken care of. Leo found immense joy in his children and grandchildren whom he loved beyond measure. His happiest moments were spent sitting on his porch, surrounded by the family he held so dear.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, at 11:00am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, from 9:00 to 11:00am, prior to the service.
