Leo William Langer Jr.

Leo William Langer, Jr., 80, of Ewing Twp., NJ, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, after a recent cancer diagnosis.
He was born in Newark, NJ where he met his wife, Dee. They married in 1968 and in 1978, eventually settled in Jackson, NJ where they resided for more than 40 years, raising their two children, Veronica and Christopher.
Leo was a proud United States Veteran, serving as a mechanic in the Army and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Leo worked for the Jackson Board of Education in the Maintenance Department, a role he was well suited for, as it provided ample opportunities to work outdoors in an environment he greatly enjoyed. It was during his employment with the BOE that Leo met Brian Kenney, who would become a cherished friend.
When Leo retired, he and his family spent a great deal of time at his vacation home in the Poconos, where one of his favorite things to do was have his grandsons, Quentin and Emerson visit and ride their quads together. He loved playing outside as often as he could and spent warmer days out on Lake Wallenpaupack in his pontoon boat with Dee and best pal, the chocolate labrador Mousse. He enjoyed bringing his grandsons and their friends for adventures tubing on the lake.
Dee and Leo recently moved to a new residence in Ewing, NJ just 2 months ago.
Leo was predeceased by his parents, Leo Langer and Anna Langer Felver, and by his beloved son, Christopher in 2023, which left him with unspeakable heartache. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Langer; his daughter, Veronica Langer and her husband, Craig Matthews; and by his cherished grandsons, Quentin and Emerson Matthews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-5 PM with a family service and Military Honors at 4:30 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. A private cremation will follow.
