Leo Simonin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charleston Cremation Center and Funeral Home - Charleston on Nov. 18, 2024.
Leo Lawrence Simonin III, also known to us all as "Bubba," of James Island, SC passed away on November 5, 2024 unexpectedly but peacefully.
Leo was born on August 5, 1948, to the late Leo Lawrence Simonin Jr and Inez Simonin of Charleston, SC and was raised in Riverland Terrace on James Island. He graduated from James Island High School and then went on to become a commercial electrician for Cummins, where he was held in high regard for many years and through his retirement.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Allison Simonin, and his brother, Micheal A. Simonin.
He is survived by his children, Susan Simonin, Tara Newman-Trim, Shane (Juli) Newman, Priscilla Simonin, and Leo Lawrence Simonin IV; his grandchildren, Cade, Kelsey, Anna, Issac, Taylor, Jakob, and Brady; and great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kyleena, Petra, and Julian. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Simonin, Patricia (Simonin) Cooper, Barbara (Simonin) and David Schneider, and Steven (Patsy) Simonin, as well as many nieces and nephews. We cannot forget his beloved "Boogah" who was his four legged companion.
One of Leo's most enjoyable things in life was being a member of the Saltwater Sports Club, located on James Island. He was active for over 48 years, holding many offices within the organization. Leo was one of the eleven Charter Members of the club, and he was the Activities Chairman three or four times. You could always count on him when help was needed. The Saltwater Sports Club was organized for conservation of our coastline and all types of saltwater activities. Leo raised his children through these activities and leaves many cherished memories. He will be missed forever by his family and many friends.
The memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Folly Beach, SC on November 22, 2024 at 1:00pm. A private Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The Logan Wood Foundation.
